The Bihar Talent Search Test 2026-27 is BCST Patna's state-level online test for Classes 6 to 12 — the Srinivasa Ramanujan test in Mathematics and the Sir C. V. Raman test in Science. Register at bcst-test.ucanassess.in by 18 November 2026; exams run 24 to 26 November 2026.
The Bihar Talent Search Test is a pair of state-level talent exams run by the Bihar Council on Science and Technology (BCST), Patna. There are two of them: the Srinivasa Ramanujan Talent Search Test in Mathematics 2026, linked to National Mathematics Day, and the Sir C. V. Raman Talent Search Test in Science 2027, linked to National Science Day. Both are open to students in Classes 6 to 12 in eligible schools across Bihar.
Dates to know
Applications opened on 24 October 2026 and close on 18 November 2026. Admit cards are due by 22 November 2026, and the exams themselves run on 24, 25 and 26 November 2026 — you sit the test on the date allotted to you. Registration happens on the official portal, bcst-test.ucanassess.in. BCST's own website is bcstpatna.bihar.gov.in, where the notices are published.
Exam pattern
The test is held online at government engineering colleges and government polytechnic institutes across Bihar. You answer 25 objective-type questions worth 100 marks in total: 4 marks for a correct answer and 1 mark deducted for a wrong one. That negative marking matters — guessing on questions you have no idea about costs you marks you already earned.
Prizes
The top three state-level rank holders in each exam receive a laptop, a medal and a certificate. District-level winners get cash awards — Rs 5,000 for first position and Rs 3,000 for second, with a medal and citation — and the third to tenth positions are recognised at the district programme.

How to apply, step by step
Open bcst-test.ucanassess.in and choose the exam you are sitting — Mathematics or Science. Fill in the student details exactly as they appear on your school record, add your school information and class, and submit the form. Save or print the registration confirmation; you will need the details on it when admit cards come out. The questions follow your class syllabus, so the honest preparation is your own school books: revise the chapters, practise objective questions against a timer, and remember the negative marking when you decide whether to attempt a question you are unsure about. Parents and teachers can check the BCST website for notices if the portal is busy near the deadline — apply early in the window if you can, because school-level help is easier to get before the last two days.
